Button Details
We are paddling at 5.00pm, as part of a two hour exclusive booking (together with Bucks Scouts). It is therefore essential that you arrive and are changed and ready for a briefing at 4.50pm prompt. Therefore please ensure you arrive by 4.30pm, ready to pay (HJCC - not the Nene Centre), change and do any paperwork.
The trip to the Nene Whitewater Centre takes about 1hr 15mins, assuming a clear motorway.
Button Competence
Paddlers should be at a BCU 2 star standard, and must be both competent and happy capsizing with a spray deck.

Button Transport
You should arrange your own transport, and should arrange to take all equipment (see list below) with you.
Button Equipment
Paddlers must take all their own equipment, or ensure that any equipment they require is collected and signed out on the previous Tuesday or Saturday HJCC session.
Personal Kayaking
Cagoule / Dry-Cag / Semi-dry Cag Kayak
Warm top layers (will get wet) Paddle
Swimwear Spray deck
Change of Clothes / shoes Crash Helmet
Towel (Soap - see Note 2) Buoyancy Aid
Sun cream (check forecast below)
Plastic Sack (for wet kit)
Suitable shoes for water
(water shoes or plimsolls)

Note 1: Avoid cotton or other water absorbent materials
Note 2: The Nene WhiteWater Centre has changing rooms and showers.

Parents must either be present themselves, or make arrangements with other parents to take responsibility for their children when off the water.
Button Other Information
The entire course is easily accessible for non-paddlers and there are some good vantage points to watch your children and/or take photographs..
There is a reasonable family friendly pub just up the road from the Nene Whitewater Centre.

Button How to get there
The Nene Whitewater Centre is situated on the Bedford Rd (A428), at the Junction of the A45 / A428, about 5 minutes from the M1 junction 15.
From the motorway, follow the signs A508 to Wellingborough.
After approx. 2 miles, the A508 becomes the A45 (the Centre is signposted at this point), Come off at the junction of the A428 and follow the signs to Bedford.
You will see the Bedford Rd. weir and the Nene Whitewater Centre on the right (but you can’t turn in to the Centre yet).
You need to proceed to the next roundabout and turn right, then parallel the main road back in to the Nene WW Centre.
The access road is at the bottom of the traffic island on the right.
