Three Weirs Trip
When & Where
Saturday 18th July 2020, 10.30am to 14:30pm
Ferry Lane, Aston, Henley-on-Thames. RG9 3DH
Arrive at Ferry Lane by 10.30am to drop off, finish changing, and be on the water for 11am.
HOAC to Ferry Lane takes about 40 mins, assuming a clear motorway. You need to bring a pack lunch, suitably waterproofed, as we will eat on the way (probably Hurley). We expect the trip to take about three hours in total, so expect to arrive at Marlow between 2pm and 3pm. We will run the three weirs (Hurley, Temple and Marlow), hence the name.
This trip is designed to as safe as possible for paddlers, coaches and parents as possible. Paddlers will need to be dropped off at the put-in, and then collected at the get-out.
We will run in a group with a ratio of one coach to five (socially distanced) paddlers.
Lifts should not be shared unless you are part of the same bubble. Ideally masks should be work when at the put-in and get out.
Rescues will only be undertaken when there is risk to life, in the event of a capsize and swim the padder will be expected to swim to the bank and self-rescue.
There are no changing facilities at either end.
See the link to the full risk-assessement.
Suitable for all.
Paddlers should be happy capsizing with a spray deck (and a wet-exit & swimming if necessary).
  • Free for HJCC Members
  • £5 for Guests / non-Members
You should arrange your own transport.
